Feng Cheng is a PhD student in Dr. Brewer’s lab at New Mexico State University. His research interests include: 1. Aromatic hydrocarbons and cycloalkanes production by catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived bio-oils; 2. Jet-fuel-range molecules production by alkylation and hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons; 3. Synthesis of novel multifuntional catalysts for upgrading lignin-derived bio-oils or model components (e.g. phenol); 4. Optimization of biocrude oil yield from various algae hydrothermal liquefaction in batch reactors; 5. Modification of pilot-scale continuous flow reactor for algae hydrothermal liquefaction. 6. Thermochemical conversion of Guayule and Guar.
