University of Arizona
Arisbeth is a second-year graduate student in the Master’s program of Environmental Engineering at the University of Arizona. She majored in Chemical Engineering at the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON), Ciudad Obregon, Mexico. Being a first-generation college graduate and engineer, Arisbeth understands the importance of supporting education, especially in STEM. While in college, she spent over a year teaching math to children, ages 6 to 17, in one of ITSON’s community centers. As a second-year SBAR Fellow, Arisbeth will continue helping a Tucson sixth-grade teacher incorporate more science experiments into the curriculum, develop activities that involve complex topics like sustainability, and introduce diverse examples of scientists to the students.
