First Plantings Completed
The SBAR Research Team completed the first guayule plantings in April 2018. Three field locations in Arizona (Eloy, Maricopa, Tucson) and one field location in New Mexico (Las Cruces) were planted and will be monitored over the next few years. SBAR’s field research on guayule focuses on several topics: density and variety trials to identify accession suitability for the Southwest; irrigation and soil experiments to determine the most efficient growing conditions; and herbicide and pesticide experiments to best protect the guayule seedlings.
