The 2019 SBAR Annual Retreat will take place in September at the University of Arizona in Tucson. This year’s SBAR Retreat will be in collaboration with the Association for the Advancement of Industrial Crops, who will be hosting their annual meeting in Tucson in the days just prior to our Retreat.
The SBAR Annual Retreat is an exclusive opportunity for SBAR partners, researchers, leaders, and others interested in supporting a sustainable bioeconomy in the arid Southwest with the production of guayule and guar crops. Progress reports for each component will be presented; future research strategies will be determined; leaders and students will be reconnected with fellow SBAR colleagues; participants will gain insights and new ideas for continued work; and everyone will leave inspired to take action that leads to positive project outcomes.

Hotel Information
A block of rooms for the SBAR Annual Retreat is available at the Homewood Suites Tucson/St. Philip’s Plaza, which is centrally located to accommodate your travel needs to the AAIC meeting held at the El Conquistador Resort as well as to the SBAR Annual Retreat meetings held on the university campus. The hotel is conveniently located near a variety of local restaurants, unique shopping and other amenities to accommodate your needs.

Agenda
This year’s Retreat will have something for everyone! Come prepared to actively engage in discussion and dialogue about your work: integrating guar and guayule science into commercial products, engaging growers and producers, and educating professionals and youth.
Students & Interns
Students and interns conducting research in any SBAR-related component are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in the Annual Retreat. Student activities will include an intensive, interdisciplinary working session (SBAR Interdisciplinary Face-Off), and a poster competition that showcases their SBAR work.
